A multi-vehicle accident killed a woman on US-50 near Tamarack Pines Road (Twin Bridges, CA)

On Thursday, a woman from Sparks lost her life following a multi-vehicle wreck on US-50 east of Tamarack Pines Road.

According to the officials, a 2006 Saturn was reported as driving aggressively westbound on US-50 at high rates of speed and passing unsafely. The Saturn lost control due to speeding and went into the opposing eastbound lane, directly into the path of an eastbound 2015 Chevrolet. The Saturn was torn in two pieces after the crash.

The impact ejected the driver of the Saturn and she collided with a 2013 Toyota that was following the Chevrolet. The woman, from Sparks, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The occupants of the Chevrolet were transported to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the Toyota was taken from the crash scene by family.

The Chevrolet caught fire for a short time and was put out by concerned citizens who stopped to help. US-50 was shut down for two-and-a-half hours during the investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.

An investigation is underway at this time.
