On Friday, a multi-vehicle accident claimed the life of a 21-year-old Honda driver while two others sustained injuries on State Route 65.
The accident took place past 3 a.m. near Morton Avenue in Porterville. As per the initial information, the wreck involved three vehicles. Preliminary investigation showed that a box truck driver was heading southbound when the truck had a tire failure due to which it lost control, hit a guardrail and came to rest in the southbound lanes.
Then, an oncoming GMC and a Honda collided with the truck. The unidentified Honda driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Honda’s 23-year-old passenger was rushed to Kaweah Health Medical Center with major injuries by the paramedics. On the other hand, emergency crews airlifted the 23-year-old GMC male driver to Kaweah Health with significant injuries. Officers mentioned that diesel spilled from the truck due to the collision.
An investigation is ongoing at this time.
