On Saturday, 67-year-old Charles Randall Purchase, a resident of Winnemucca lost his life in a motorcycle accident on US 95.
The two-vehicle crash occurred at about 5 p.m. involving a semi-truck. As per the initial reports, Purchase was stopped on a private driveway at the intersection with U.S. 95 on his bike. Afterwards, he took off from the driveway and attempted to take a left turn in front of the semi-truck.
The big rig driver tried to avoid hitting the motorcycle by swerving the vehicle to the left and braking, but the driver ended up colliding with the left side of the motorcycle. Purchase was ejected from the motorcycle as a result of the crash and died at the scene. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing at this time.
