A major rollover accident has claimed life of one person and injured a passenger.
HCSO, HPD and HFD proactively responded to reports of a major accident with people trapped on the Northbound 249 at Grant Road. On arrival, the units found a white pickup truck which had rolled over on the off-ramp, and 2 people stuck inside the vehicle. HFD removed an adult female and transported her to a nearby trauma center, where she is expected to survive. The driver, an Adult male, was trapped inside for an extended time, and died from his injuries inside the truck.
During their investigation, HPD found that that an HCSO Deputy on-viewed the crash, and his dash cam may have caught it. The truck is believed to have hit the K-Rail on the right side of the freeway before rolling over and onto the barrier on the off-ramp. Authorities closed down the Grant off-ramp for the investigation, but main lanes of 249 are open again.
The crash is under investigation.
