A major crash led to heavy traffic backup and hazmat spill on East Loop at Clinton.

As per the initial information, the wreck involving two heavy trucks took place on the northbound lanes of the 610 East Loop at Clinton Drive. It is unknown if the incident caused any injuries. Motorists along the East Loop at Clinton experienced some heavy traffic backup on Thursday as crews worked to clear the scene and hazmat spill.

Diesel fuel was spilled on the road due to the crash. All main lanes were shut down for multiple hours but have since reopened. Traffic was backed up for miles and it was getting through a shoulder lane. No other details are available.

The wreck remains under review.
