A hit-and-run crash reported on Interstate 5 in Fife (Fife, WA)

On Thursday, an excavator on a semi-truck slammed into an overpass above on Interstate 5 in Fife.

As per the initial information, the hit-and-run crash took place on the northbound lanes of I-5 at 54th Avenue East at around 9:30 a.m. It is unknown if anyone suffered injuries as a result of the incident. The 54th Avenue East overpass was closed while northbound I-5 was down to two left lanes for crews to check the damage.

The lanes in the area have since reopened, officials said. Officers reported that the driver of the semi-truck did not remain at the scene and continued northbound on Interstate 5. The semi was found and stopped on Interstate 5 at I-405 in King County. No other details are made available.

The incident remains under review.
