A hit-and-run crash killed a man on I-5; driver sought (Woodland, WA)

On Thursday, a Washington man lost his life following a two-vehicle collision on I-5.

As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run crash took place at approximately 7:20 a.m. along I-5 southbound, close to milepost 21. The preliminary investigation showed that a vehicle crashed into another vehicle, sending it into Horseshoe Lake in Woodland.

The driver who caused the collision stopped for a while, but then left the scene. The victim, a man from Kalama, was rushed to a local hospital where he was later declared dead. Officers are searching for a dark-colored, two-door car similar to a late 1990s or early 2000s Honda Civic.

The car had aftermarket wheels and exhaust, and heavy front-end damage, officials stated. The victim was wearing dark pants and an orange construction sweatshirt. Authorities shut down the southbound lanes for several hours as crews worked at the scene. No additional details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
