A hit-and-run crash killed a female pedestrian in downtown Long Beach (Long Beach, CA)

On Monday evening, a woman lost her life after being hit by a pickup truck in downtown Long Beach.

As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run crash took place at about 5:25 p.m. on Fourth Street near The Promenade. The early reports showed that a red pickup struck the female pedestrian while she was in a crosswalk on Fourth Street and pulled her towards Pine Avenue before her body was dislodged. The driver of the pickup truck drove away from the scene. After that, a Chevy Camaro hit the woman and dragged her to Pine.

The driver of the Chevy remained at the scene and cooperated with the officers. The driver was not suspected of being under the influence, speeding or distracted driving, officials mentioned. It was not known how far each vehicle dragged the victim. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details were provided.

The incident remains under active review.
