On Tuesday morning, 49-year-old Michael Pashley lost his life following a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 15 and El Cerrito Road.
As per the initial information, the fatal incident took place at around 3:55 a.m. on southbound Interstate 15, south of El Cerrito Road. Michael Pashley, a Santa Ana resident, was riding an Acura SUV when he collided with a big rig for unknown reasons. The investigation reports showed that the SUV rear-ended the semi which caused him to pull over in the slow lane.
Afterwards, Pashley stepped out of his car to check the damage. Reports further revealed that when he got out of his vehicle, he was hit by an unknown tractor-trailer pulling two gravel trailers. The driver of the tractor-trailer fled the scene after the collision. On arrival, the Corona Fire Department paramedics pronounced Michael Pashley deceased.
The authorities closed down three of four lanes for more than two hours following the accident. Officers are actively searching for the hit-and-run rig. The authorities also mentioned no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The trucker in the initial accident remained unharmed.
The crash remains under active review.
