On early Thursday morning, 44-year-old Jamie Fontenot, a resident of Scott, lost her life following a hit-and-run crash in Allen Parish.
State Police say that the fatal bicycle crash happened just after midnight on July 15 on LA Hwy 383 near Ikes Road, around three miles west of Kinder. The incident claimed the life of 44-year-old Jamie Fontenot of Scott.
As per the preliminary investigation, Fontenot was traveling on a bicycle south on LA 383 when she was fatally hit by an unknown southbound vehicle. After hitting Fontenot, troopers state that the vehicle left the scene.
Troopers are seeking assistance from the public in finding the vehicle and driver involved. Fontenot sustained major injuries as a result of the crash and was declared dead at the scene. State Police mentioned that a toxicology sample was taken from Fontenot and will be submitted for analysis.
An investigation is ongoing at this time.
