Four people lost their lives and one person was airlifted to hospital after a head-on crash on State Highway 18 at about 8:30 p.m. near Sierra Pelona Drive on Saturday.
On arrival, authorities located a white 1994 Chevy Suburban and a 2021 Toyota Tundra, both with major damage along the eastbound shoulder of the highway. Rescuers freed and airlifted one victim to a hospital with critical injuries. Officers declared three passengers of the Suburban and one occupant of the Toyota deceased on the spot. As of now, authorities did not release the identities of the victims due to pending notification of next of kin.
The incident remains under investigation.
