On early Monday morning, a 37-year-old Bellevue man lost his life and a woman suffered injuries following a head-on collision on SR-900.
According to Washington State Patrol, the fatal incident took place after 4 a.m. on SR-900 between Issaquah and Renton. Officers mentioned that a 37-year-old Bellevue man was steering a small gray sedan and collided head-on with a box truck.
On arrival, authorities declared the man deceased while medics transported her passenger, a 33-year-old woman, to a local hospital. Her condition is unknown but troopers said that she is expected to be OK. The driver of the box truck did not suffer any serious injuries.
Sgt. Darin Foster with Washington State Patrol released a statement that “There are too many things right now for us to be able to say exactly what happened, but he was definitely in the oncoming lane and the truck didn’t have any place to go,” It is unknown if impairment or other factors were involved in the crash. The road was still closed in the area as of 7 a.m. Monday.
An investigation is underway.
