A fiery fatal crash killed one person and injured another on Highway 99 and Manning Avenue (Fresno County, CA)

A person died and another suffered serious injuries after a fatal fiery crash on Highway 99 south of Manning Avenue at about 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.

The U-Haul truck driver lost balance and went off the road and fell down an embankment near the Manning exit. The truck then hit a tree which smashed the engine compartment into the cab of the truck.

A Fresno-area CHP officer saw how the U-Haul caught fire. The officer and a citizen rescued the driver from the U-Haul but they failed to save a passenger before the truck was fully engulfed with fire. On arrival, medical personnel transported the U-Haul driver to Community Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

An investigation is continuing.
