A fiery crash killed 1 person and injured 2 others north of Battle Ground (Battle Ground, WA)

On Tuesday evening, a teenage boy lost his life while two others suffered injuries following a fiery crash north of Battle Ground.

Officers quickly responded to the area of Northeast 319th Street and Northeast 152nd Avenue at around 9:15 p.m. after getting reports of a single-vehicle accident. The 911 caller reported that the vehicle had caught fire and that three occupants were inside. A witness managed to get two of the three people out of the vehicle.

On arrival, firefighters found the vehicle fully-engulfed in flames. The right front passenger was found dead inside the vehicle. The reports revealed that a 16-year-old driver was heading south on NE 152nd Avenue in a 2005 Nissan Frontier pickup truck at a high rate of speed. Just then, the truck veered off the roadway, hit and sheared a power pole, continued off the roadway and crashed into a large oak tree.

The driver and a 15-year-old passenger were transported to area hospitals with unknown injuries. The person who died was close to the same age as the other two occupants in the vehicle. According to the officials, excessive speed of the driver led to the accident.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
