A fatal DUI crash killed a 22-year-old man on Tropicana Avenue (Las Vegas, NV)

On Saturday, a 22-year-old man lost his life in a DUI crash and police arrested 24-year-old Leobardo Hernandez, of Las Vegas, on Tropicana Avenue.

The incident occurred at around 3:55 a.m. at the intersection of Paradise Road. Hernandez was eastbound on a 1999 Ford Ranger when he veered off the roadway and his vehicle collided with a large traffic signal pole. On arrival, medics rushed his 22-year-old passenger to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Emergency crews also transported Hernandez to a hospital with substantial injuries but he is expected to survive.

As per authorities, Hernandez showed signs of impairment and officers arrested him on a felony charge of DUI resulting in death and a misdemeanor charge of failing to properly maintain a travel lane. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sunday.

An investigation is ongoing.
