On Thursday, a motorcyclist died following a crash in south Spokane County.

Officers actively responded to the crash scene at about 2:40 p.m. at S. Malloy Prairie Road near S. Harrison Road. On arrival, officials found a man in his 20s seriously injured and not moving.

Spokane County Fire personnel provided medical aid to the rider, but the man was declared dead at the scene. As per preliminary reports, the motorcycle was traveling north on Malloy Prairie Road when the rider apparently failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

The motorcycle hit the guardrail as a result of which the rider was ejected from his vehicle. The rider suffered severe injuries despite wearing a helmet. Officials mentioned that S. Malloy Prairie Road in the area of Harrison Road is expected to be shut down for the next two hours.

An investigation is continuing.
