A car vs. bicycle crash killed a 34-year-old woman in North Torrey Pines Road (La Jolla, CA)

On Wednesday, a 34-year-old woman lost her life following a two-vehicle crash on North Torrey Pines Road.

The fatal bicycle crash happened at around 4:20 p.m. approaching La Jolla Village Drive. Reports revealed that the victim was riding in the right lane when she merged into the left lane. At that moment, a 74-year-old man driving a 2005 Mercedes-Benz SL500 struck her bicycle from behind.

The unidentified female bicyclist succumbed to her injuries at the scene. According to authorities, drunken or impaired driving did not seem to have played a factor in the crash. Officials will release the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin.

The incident remains under active review.
