A car drover over and seriously injured an elderly man sleeping on sidewalk (San Diego, CA)

On Sunday morning, an elderly San Diego man sustained serious injuries after he was run down by a car while sleeping on a sidewalk in the Cortez neighborhood.

As per the initial information, the incident took place at 8:50 a.m. in the 500 block of Beech Street. The preliminary reports showed that the 58-year-old man was asleep near a driveway when a 2019 Ford Edge driven by a 65-year-old woman went into the designated bike lane and turned into the Ace parking lot.

The woman reportedly ran over the sleeping man. On arrival, first responders rushed the victim to a local hospital. According to the authorities, the victim is expected to survive his injuries. It is unknown if the woman will face any charges.

The crash remains under review.
