A car crashes into a utility pole, causing power outages in Baton Rouge (Baton Rouge, LA)

On Saturday afternoon, a car struck a utility pole and knocked out power in Baton Rouge.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle accident took place near Gardere Lane at Old Hermitage Parkway. The early reports indicated that the crash knocked out power for more than 5,500 Entergy customers in the area. According to outage maps, the outage started just after 5 p.m.

According to the authorities, there is no estimated time of restoration, but they confirmed that it will take several hours to get the lights back on. At this time, it is unknown if any one suffered injuries as a result of the collision.

An investigation continues.
