A 71-year-old man injured after a traffic accident in Pasco (Pasco, WA)

A vehicle hit and injured a 71-year-old man on a residential Street in Pasco.

Officers quickly responded to the neighborhood of northwest of W Court Street and 1800-block of N 20th Avenue after getting reports of a vehicle hitting three parked cars. On arrival, responders found a 71-year-old man lying in the street bleeding from the back of his head. Reports revealed that a 33-year-old woman knocked the man down while trying to escape from the scene after the crash.

According to the eyewitnesses, a silver car collided with a parked PT Cruiser, pushing it into a pickup truck, which then crashed into another car. Officials said that all the vehicles involved belonged to a family and the victim was the father of the group. The man reportedly went to the driver’s door of the silver car to check on the driver when the woman told him that she couldn’t remain on scene as she had a warrant.

Just then, she put the car into reverse, pinning the victim between her open door and the car, knocking him backward onto the pavement before continuing westbound on Opal Street. Emergency crews arrived to provide medical aid to the victim. Officials reported that the man’s injuries seemed to be non-critical and he is expected to be fine. Police found the suspect’s vehicle parked illegally near Jay Street and N 22nd Avenue.

The car was leaking coolant and had front-end damage. Authorities linked the car to a nearby apartment, where the female was convinced to communicate with the officers.  Troopers were ready to book the woman, but she had a pre-existing medical condition and injuries that required treatment. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment and her charges will be evaluated.

An investigation is continuing.
