On Wednesday morning, a 68-year-old Oxnard man suffered injuries following a two-vehicle accident on Rice Avenue and Camino Del Sol.
The incident took place at about 9:45 a.m. on Rice Avenue and Camino Del Sol. As per the initial reports, a northbound pickup truck crashed into the side of a southbound big rig. The big rig was apparently trying to make a left turn onto Camino Del Sol when the accident occurred.
The pickup truck was wedged under the trailer of the big rig due to the impact and trapped the pickup driver inside. Responding officers arrived immediately and rescued the pickup driver from the vehicle and transported him to Ventura County Medical Center with major injuries. Officials shut down the Oxnard intersection, but it has reopened now.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
