A 51-year-old woman lost her life following a single-vehicle accident on State Route 18 in Auburn.

Officials said that a 51-year-old woman was heading eastbound on SR 18, approaching State Route 167, when she hit a barrier on the right side for unknown reasons. The vehicle then crossed the road, crashing into a left side barrier.

On arrival, paramedics airlifted the woman to Harborview Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries. Officials believe that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

The authorities will continue to investigate the cause that led to the fatal crash.
