A 30-year-old man died after a single-car crash on Interstate 15 in City Heights (San Diego, CA)

On Wednesday, a 30-year-old man lost his life following a single-car accident on southbound Interstate 15 in City Heights.

The fatal incident took place at around 7:15 a.m., north of Interstate 805. The victim was driving a Chevrolet Malibu that fell down the embankment and crashed into a tree for reasons that are yet to be known. Officers have not confirmed if the man died at the scene or at a hospital.

The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. He is the resident of Rancho Cucamonga in San Bernardino County, officers mentioned. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident.

An investigation is underway.
