Man seriously injured after a motorcycle crash in west Michigan; distracted driving a factor (Wilcox Township, MI)

A man received serious injuries following a two-vehicle accident Thursday in west Michigan.

As per the initial information, the motorcycle crash took place on 1 Mile Road in Wilcox Township. The preliminary reports showed that a Yamaha motorcycle ridden by a 29-year-old Rothbury man was heading east on 1 Mile Road in Wilcox Township when a driver traveling west in a Toyota Rav4 went over the centerline and struck the motorbike.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. He was rushed to the hospital in serious condition. The driver in the Rav4, only identified as a 47-year-old Scottville woman, remained unharmed in the accident. Officials believe that distracted driving was involved in the wreck. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
