On Sunday, 47-year-old John M Lloyd, of Acworth, suffered injuries following a two-vehicle accident in Cobb County while officers arrested 56-year-old William E Akin, of Roswell, for DUI.
As per the initial information, the motorcycle crash took place at around 6:16 p.m. near Lake Acworth Drive and Cherokee Street. The preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcyclist riding on a 2001 Harley Davidson was in the right turn lane of Cherokee Street when the 2017 GMC Sierra exited the gas station on the corner and into the path of the Harley.
The motorcyclist applied the brake to avoid crashing into the GMC but the bike rolled over, ejecting the rider from the motorcycle. The rider, 47-year-old John M Lloyd, was taken to Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries. Officers arrested the driver of the pickup, William E Akin, and charged him with DUI, Failure to Yield, and Serious Injury by Vehicle. No other details were provided.
An investigation is continuing.
