93-year-old woman died after a three-vehicle wreck on Highway 99 (Yuba City, CA)

On Wednesday, a 93-year-old woman lost her life following a wreck on Highway 99.

As per the initial information, the three-vehicle pile-up took place at about 9:28 a.m. The preliminary investigation showed that a 93-year-old Yuba City woman was driving southbound on the highway in a 2018 Toyota.

The woman entered the left turn lane near Stewart Road. At that point of time, the 2016 Mazda driver was heading northbound in the second lane and a 2005 Lexus was in the first lane slightly behind the Mazda.

The reports further revealed that the Toyota driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic and turned directly in front of the vehicles, causing the Mazda to collide with the Toyota. Due to the impact, the Toyota rotated counter-clockwise and hit the right rear corner of the Lexus.

On arrival, first responders rushed the Toyota and Mazda drivers to the hospital. The 93-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. Officers believe that drugs and alcohol are not involved in the crash. No other details are available.

An investigation continues.
