A tragic multi-vehicle accident unfolded in Sutter County on Friday afternoon as a 93-year-old man lost his life in a fatal crash, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The elderly man, driving a Toyota Prius eastbound on Cornelius Avenue at Pleasant Grove Road, came to a stop at a stop sign around 2:30 p.m. Simultaneously, a 19-year-old operating a Toyota Highlander was driving southbound on Pleasant Grove Road.
The Prius driver, for reasons yet unknown, entered the path of the Highlander, resulting in a collision. The elderly driver was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is not yet known.
The Highlander occupants, including the driver and two juveniles, escaped the incident without injuries. Drugs and alcohol are ruled out as contributing factors in the crash.
