A fatal crash near the Texas-Oklahoma state line claimed the lives of a 9-year-old girl from Dallas and the van’s driver, Than Than Shwe, 43, from Vernon. The tragic incident occurred when three vehicles collided on a rainy Saturday afternoon near Vernon, about 50 miles northwest of Wichita Falls.
The van lost control, crossed a grassy median, and collided head-on with an SUV, while a third vehicle was also involved. Several others, including Dallas residents Michael Mullens, Marissa Mullens, and their two children, suffered incapacitating injuries and were hospitalized. The injured parties are currently receiving treatment in a Vernon hospital.
