The El Cajon Police Department reported a pedestrian accident on Tuesday evening.
The accident occurred in the 700 block of Fletcher Parkway. It was reported at 6:50 p.m.
According to the officials, a pedestrian had been crossing the street when he was struck by an Optima.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The victim has only been identified as an 89-year-old man. There have been no further details disclosed concerning his identity.
The driver of the Optima remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The fatal accident is still being investigated.
The officials have confirmed that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the accident.
