Authorities identified 89-year-old David Kenneth Morgan as the man who lost his life following a two-vehicle accident on Thursday morning in Tucson.
As per the initial information, the fatal bicycle crash took place near North Alvernon Way and East Mabel Street at about 9 AM. The early reports showed that David Kenneth Morgan was riding his bicycle northbound on Alvernon Way in the bicycle lane. At some point of time, he began to veer left into the curb lane before suddenly entering the median lane, where he was hit by a white Ram pickup truck.
The bicyclist, identified as 89-year-old David Kenneth Morgan, suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. His next of kin was notified. The driver of the pickup, identified only as a man in his 50s, quickly stopped and cooperated with the authorities. Officials confirmed that the driver was not impaired.
According to the authorities, Morgan’s “unsafe movement” was the main cause of the crash. It is unlikely that any charges or citations will be issued against the driver, officials mentioned. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
