A tragic incident occurred on the I-35 service road in downtown Austin, resulting in the death of a driver. According to Austin police, the three-vehicle crash happened on Sunday, March 17, around 1:57 p.m. in the 900 block of South I-35 southbound service road.
The driver of one vehicle involved in the crash was identified as 88-year-old Joe Ildefonso Garcia. He was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Fortunately, all other individuals involved in the crash refused transport to the hospital and remained on the scene, cooperating with the ongoing investigation by authorities. The details surrounding the crash and its causes are being examined by law enforcement.
