The Tucson Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident on Friday. The accident occurred in the 9200 block of East Old Spanish Trail, near 22nd Street and Harrison Road.
According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in the collision. One of the vehicles had veered into the oncoming lane which caused it to crash into the second vehicle head-on.
The driver of the second vehicle was fatally injured and was pronounced dead. The officials have since identified the victim as 88-year-old Dorothy Smith Weaver.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. The officials have reported that they suspect the driver of the at-fault vehicle to have been driving under the influence and will be arrested once released from the hospital.
