According to the Desert Springs Police Department, a fatal crash was reported on Sunday in Desert Hot Springs. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the hit-and-run accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred near Palm Drive and Hacienda Avenue.
A car was traveling northbound when it suddenly turned into the sidewalk. As a result of this, a pedestrian who was standing near a bus stop was struck by a car.
The driver of the car fled the scene after committing the accident. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The identity of the pedestrian has not been disclosed at this time.
The accused driver of the car was identified as Kristiana Raylene Saiz. Saiz was later located and arrested.
The crash continues to be investigated by the DSPD.
