On Tuesday, an 84-year old woman lost her life following a single-vehicle accident on a rural roadway near Iron Mountain.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place in the 14500 block of State Route 67 in Poway at around 11:30 a.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that the woman failed to maintain control of her 2006 Toyota Corolla while traveling south. The vehicle swerved to the left, went off the roadway, hit a metal guardrail and a signpost.
The woman was the only occupant of the car. She suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
