Authorities identified 83-year-old Mary Miller as the woman who lost her life and 66-year-old Kipper Jacob, of Sedro-Woolley, as the victim who suffered injuries following a two-vehicle collision on June 5 in Burlington.
The fatal car crash took place at the intersection of Gardner Road and State Route 20 at approximately 12:30 p.m. According to the investigation reports, 83-year-old Burlington woman was heading Northbound on Gardner Road in a 1998 Buick when she ran a stop sign at the intersection.
As the woman entered the highway, her car was hit by a 2008 Kia Sedona being driven by 66-year old Kippert Jacob who was heading Eastbound on State Route 20. Due to the impact, the Buick swerved off the roadway and into a field. Mary Miller was reportedly not buckled up at the time of collision.
The woman suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. According to the authorities, Kippert Jacob was buckled up at that time and did not receive any serious injuries. Next of Kin notification was made by Troopers 119 and 305. The roadway was shut down for some time to give way to the investigation.
The Buick was totaled as a result of the accident and was impounded by Peter’s Towing. The 2008 Kia Sedona had reportable damage. Officials stated that the factor that led to the collision was Failure to stop at a stop sign. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
