According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Tuesday in Nevada County.
Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred at Highway 49 and La Barr Meadows Road.
A 1998 Honda Civic driven by an 83-year-old person was going southbound toward a traffic signal. A 2014 Acura MDX was going northbound through the intersection. Both vehicles collided with one another.
This resulted in the 83-year-old being pinned inside her car. Despite efforts to save her, the woman succumbed to her injuries.
The officials have confirmed that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the accident.
The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
