82-Year-Old Walter Barnes Killed In A Motorcycle Crash In Ashtabula Township (Ashtabula Township, OH)

In a tragic incident on Tuesday night, 82-year-old Walter Barnes was found dead at the scene of a crash on the closed section of Route 531, according to OHP Trooper Jose Molina.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol received a call about a motorcycle driver unconscious on the road around 6:24 p.m. The crash occurred approximately .3 miles west of mile marker 14 on Route 531, within the construction zone near the North Kingsville/Ashtabula Township line.

Barnes’ motorcycle was traveling eastbound when it collided with a rock pile, causing him to be ejected from the vehicle.

Despite EMS efforts, Barnes was pronounced dead on the scene. Toxicology reports indicated no substances in his system. The incident remains under investigation by authorities.
