The California Highway Patrol reported a multi-vehicle accident in Kings County on Sunday morning. The accident occurred near Highway 198 and 27th Avenue at around 11:30 a.m.
According to the officials, a Chevy Silverado was headed down the highway at around 70-80 mph. The vehicle came into the path of a Chevy S-10, causing the two vehicles to become involved in a collision. 

The driver of the S-10 was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have identified the deceased victim to be 82-year-old Maria Aguerralade. The passenger present in her vehicle was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. 

The driver of the Silverado was reported to have been driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the fatal crash. He has been identified to be 65-year-old Mariano Martinez and has been arrested.
