The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reported a motor vehicle accident in Sun City on Saturday. The accident occurred near 103rd Avenue and Cherry Hills Drive at around 10:30 a.m.
According to the officials, a golf cart was headed south on 103rd Avenue when the driver made a sudden left turn. The cart then crossed the centre line and crashed head-on with an SUV.
The driver of the golf cart was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased victim has since been identified as 82-year-old Chester Sharpe.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. They were found to not have been under any influence at the time of the fatal crash. The investigation is ongoing.
