The Brownsville Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash on Tuesday early afternoon. The accident happened at Palm Boulevard and Jefferson Street at around 6:14 a.m.
Police said a pedestrian, identified as Roberto Recio, 81, was using the crossing at the intersection when a white Chevrolet Silverado struck him as it was turning left into West Jefferson Street while the truck was still moving along Palm Boulevard.
Recio was taken to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Criminal Investigations Unit of the Brownsville Police Department spoke with the truck driver while he was still on the scene. According to investigators, the motorist was not intoxicated at all.
The fatal crash is still being investigated by the officials.
