A tragedy struck Peoria as an 8-year-old boy lost his life in a pedestrian accident on February 1 near Vistancia Boulevard and Ridgeline Road. The incident occurred at around 3:13 p.m.

Authorities revealed that the child exited a moving vehicle and was subsequently struck by the same vehicle while on the roadway. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the boy succumbed to his injuries. The driver, unharmed, remained at the scene of the fatal crash.

While speed has been ruled out, investigators are exploring possible impairments. The Peoria Unified School District identified the victim as a 2nd grader at Vistancia Elementary School.
