The Los Angeles Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident in the Pico-Union on Saturday. The accident occurred at Washington Avenue and Toberman Street at around 5:08 p.m.
According to the officials, a vehicle had crashed into a container. The events leading up to this collision are not yet known at this time.
The officials have reported that there were two people present in the vehicle at the time of the crash – a mother and her 8-year-old son. Both of them were injured and rushed to a hospital where the boy was pronounced dead. The mother is listed to be in stable condition.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. The officials have reported that they do not suspect DUI to be a cause. There are no other details available at this time.
