79-year-old Lawrence McGill killed after a single-vehicle crash in West Nashville (Nashville, TN)

Authorities identified 79-year-old Lawrence McGill as the man who lost his life following a traffic collision Monday afternoon in West Nashville.

As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle crash took place on Hester Beasley Road. The preliminary investigation showed that Lawrence McGill was driving his Nissan Frontier westbound when he failed to maintain control of his vehicle. The pickup went into a ditch and struck a tree.

On arrival, medical personnel rushed McGill to a local hospital where he was later declared dead. He was not buckled up at the time of the accident. There were no indications of impairment at the scene, officials mentioned. No other details are made available.

The crash remains under investigation.
