The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash that killed a 78-year-old and 7 other men in Madera County. The 78-year-old man was identified as Robert Kovar.
Approximately at 6:00 a.m., a GMC truck driven by Kovar on Avenue 7 and Road 22, crashed into a van that had 8 occupants. Kovar and the other seven occupants of the van were fatally injured and were pronounced dead at the scene.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
