According to the California Highway Patrol, a hit-and-run accident occurred in Perris at around 10:42 a.m. The crash happened on State Route 64 on Thursday.
According to the investigators, an unknown pedestrian and a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu were involved in the collision. The officials stated that the Malibu driver was traveling southbound at a high speed and struck the pedestrian.
A 78-year-old man was identified as the Malibu driver who suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the man has not been disclosed at this time.
According to the reports, it is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the firefighters.
