On Thursday night, 78-year-old Karl T Oney died after being hit by a vehicle in Panola County.
As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place on US Highway 59 South. The early reports revealed that Karl T Oney, of Carthage, was crossing US Highway 59 South in the dark. At the same time, a 2019 Dodge Journey, driven by 31-year-old Joshua D Denmon, of Center, was heading southbound on US 59 in the outside lane and hit Oney.
Oney suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. Denmon was transported to a Carthage hospital in stable condition. On the other hand, Denmon’s passengers, 20-year-old Heather L Lawrence, of Center, and a 1-year-old boy were also taken to the same hospital in stable condition. No other details are available.
The incident remains under investigation.
