76-Year-Old Gaylin Reese Killed In A Bicycle Accident In Long Beach (Long Beach, CA)

The Long Beach Police Department reported a bicycle accident on Sunday. The accident occurred near 2nd Street and Marina Drive just before 12:30 p.m. 

According to the officials, a tandem bike was headed down the road when it came into 2nd Drive which had a lot of traffic. The bicycle was on the eastbound bike lane and was then sideswiped by a vehicle, causing it to fall over. 

Both occupants of the bicycle were injured and taken to a hospital. One of them succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead. She has since been identified as 76-year-old Gaylin Reese. 

The other bicyclist, her husband, had minor injuries. The vehicle fled the scene before the police could arrive. The fatal crash is still being investigated.
