76-year-old Carlos Gonzalez killed after a hit-and-run crash in Phoenix; driver sought (Phoenix, AZ)

Officials identified 76-year-old Carlos Gonzalez as the man who lost his life after being hit by a vehicle Monday night in Phoenix while the driver fled the scene after the collision.

The fatal hit-and-run crash took place on Glendale Avenue near 37th Avenue at about 8 p.m. According to the investigation reports, Carlos Gonzalez was attempting to cross Glendale Avenue, when a silver vehicle struck him while he was in a crosswalk. The driver of the involved vehicle left the scene after the crash.

On arrival, emergency responders found the victim unconscious in the road. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have not provided any details about the suspect or the hit-and-run vehicle. No other details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
