75-year-old Nelson Nunez succumbs to his injuries after a pedestrian crash on I-10 in Baton Rouge (Baton Rouge, LA)

Authorities identified 75-year-old Nelson Nunez, of Prairieville, as the man who died of injuries he suffered after being hit by an 18-wheeler on June 4 in Baton Rouge.

The fatal pedestrian crash took place on I-10 near the Highland Road exit. According to the investigation reports, a semi-truck struck Nunez while he was standing in the road. Officers later learned that Nunez stopped his vehicle after the roof rack fell off his vehicle, spilling his belongings onto the interstate.

Nunez was attempting to gather up his belongings when he got struck by the 18-wheeler.  Nunez spent almost a week and a half in serious condition at the hospital, before he died of his injuries on Monday. No other details are made available.

The incident remains under review.
