On Thursday, 75-year-old Nancy Whalen, a Newberry resident, was killed following a crash in Luce County.
As per the initial information, the fatal incident took place at about 1:30 p.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that Nancy Whalen entered the intersection of M28 and County Road 403 and came in front of a Charter Spectrum truck that was heading westbound on M-28, resulting in the collision. Whalen was declared deceased at the scene by the officials.
On the other hand, the truck driver was provided medical aid at the scene for minimal injuries and released. Authorities believe that alcohol, drugs, and speed were not involved in the accident. Luce County Sheriff’s Department, Luce County Fire/EMS, and MDOT provided assistance at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
